 I'm excited to announce  a new just4Me baking class that I will be running in 2023 at  cosy  Joy of Flora Cafe at West Croyden in Adelaide. Places are limited to 10 so book early.

 I'll be sharing a new technique for making pastry that works regardless of your cooking skills.

New Baking Classes for 2023

I love crunchy, flaky pastry; however,  store-bought tarts and pies rarely meet my expectations. Plus, many had too much sugar or other ingredients  not to my tastes.

I wanted flaky pastry, dairy free and sugar-free. Filled with delicious plant based taste sensations.

But like many, I used to fear baking pastry but I love a challenge!

I decided to master the skills of turning plain flour and fat into the most comforting treats.

Now I'll share my tips and the simple way I've created to do this easily in a home kitchen.

Overcome the Fear of Pastry

Many people fear pastry baking. TV cooks make it sound complicated, full of challenges and sad results. With contestants in a popular baking show living in terror of the famous 'soggy bottom' judgement.

In this class, I will share recipes and techniques to create a classic pastry dough that results in flaky pastry, without a "soggy bottom" both plant-based and sugar-free. Then show how to turn it into pies and tarts to match your tastes and dietary needs.

Small, In-person Class

In this 1.5-hour class, I will demonstrate how to make the shortcrust pastry, a versatile dough that will allow you to make a wide range of baked goods. My method is easy to master regardless of your cooking skills and kitchen equipment.

  • Learn to make shortcrust pastry suitable for pies and tarts.
  • One savoury and two sweet bakes are to be demonstrated in the class. 
  • Two baking techniques will be demonstrated - blind baking for a cold filling and baking for cooked fillings.

All bakes will be plant-based and available for tasting. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival.
